Donggyun Seo

Welcome! I am Donggyun Seo, a mathematician working in geometric group theory and low-dimensional topology. I am currently a researcher at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Chungnam National University, working with Joonhyung Kim.

I received my Ph.D. from Seoul National University in 2020 under the supervision of Sang-hyun Kim. Since then, I have held positions at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS), KAIST, and the Research Institute of Mathematics at Seoul National University, supported by the Sejong Science Fellowship of the National Research Foundation of Korea.

My research centers on the analogy between the outer automorphism group Out(Fn) of a free group and mapping class groups of surfaces, which I pursue through the topology of doubled handlebodies.
